Análise de indicadores socioeconômicos, demográficos, e de saúde bucal do arco sul brasileiro

The South Arc is part of the Brazilian border and covers the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. It consists of 418 municipalities, and is the most affected regi on by cross - border dynamics. The objective of this study was to identify the socio - economic indicators, demographic and oral health and analyze their associations with oral health indicators and the level of first dental appointment coverage of the municip alities of the South Arc border strip. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 17.0 and 95% confidence interval. In statistical associations were used, Pearson's chi - square, multiple linear regression (p <0.05) and for logistic regression, the method of Forw ard Stepwise (p <0.200). The municipalities of Santa Catarina presented the best results, in general, in relation to socioeconomic and demographic indicators when compared to other states. Regarding the aspect of health services, more than 50% of the citie s got an excellent Family Health Team and Oral Health Team coverage and a percentage above 80% of Community Health Workers coverage. The South Arc obtained excellent oral health indicators in general, but had a low ratio of preventive dental procedures and a cover of the first dental appointment from regular to bad levels. Regarding the associations between oral health indicators with socioeconomic, demographic and health indicators, onl y Oral Health Team coverage, proportion of tooth extraction and coverag e of the first appointment showed statistically significant associations (p <0.05) nd as to the coverage of the first dental appointment only Oral Health Team coverage presented p values with statistical significance (p <0.05). There was no multicolline arity relationship between the first appointment coverage and other oral health indicators. From the analysis of these indicators it was possible to develop a more complete picture about the current socioeconomic, demographic and oral health conditions of these locations, in order to direct the existing projects and policies in the region, always in search of improving the quality of life of the population of Brazil's borders
