Resumo: O presente trabalho aborda uma experimentação metodológica sobre o ensino da Geografia escolar com alunos do 2º ano do ensino médio de uma escola da rede estadual de ensino em São Luís – MA, através dos conhecimentos geográficos construídos através do espaço vivido dos alunos. O trabalho foi realizado na escola Barjonas Lobão por graduandos do curso de licenciatura em Geografia da Universidade Federal do Maranhão no ano de 2017 e teve como objetivo a aproximação dos graduandos com a realidade escolar. Este contato resultou na produção de mapas, por meio da cartografia social, onde os alunos representaram suas realidades. Concluiu-se que os alunos tem preferência por aulas que fujam da metodologia tradicional e que possam ajudar a compreender e atuar no seu cotidiano.

Through the geographic knowledge built through the lived space of the students. The work was carried out at the Barjonas Lobão school by undergraduates of the degree course in Geography of the Federal University of Maranhão in the year 2017 and had the objective of approaching the students with the school reality. This contact resulted in the production of maps, through social cartography, where the students represented their realities.
