Resumo: This paper has as main aim to identify the perspectives of two immigrant children (a Pakistani and a Venezuelan) regarding their experience in Brazil, a host language, and the auxiliary process to their parents and extended family in a language classroom of Portuguese as an additional language. The theoretical discussion with themes of the linguistic issues in Brazil, immigration and bilingualism was developed based on McNamara (1967), Grosjean (1982), Henriques (2000), Bolognini & Payer (2005), Megale (2005), Rodrigues, Strey & Pereira (2007), Flores (2009), Cabete (2010), Grosso (2011), Becker & Borges (2015), Cruz (2017) among others. For this study, qualitative research of an exploratory nature was conducted in the form of a case study (MEIRINHOS; OSÓRIO, 2010; YIN, 2001). For this study, the following research instruments were used: a non-participant observation and a semi-structured interview. As a result of this research, it was revealed that the participants recognized that Brazil has vast differences in terms of sociocultural aspects and religion, and they had an affective feeling about their home country. They are still in the process of developing the four language skills of the host language, in addition to having a new experience through the process of helping parents and extended family in the educational context.
