Resumo: The aim of this study was to characterize the seminal pattern of two boars of two commercial pig lines and correlate the seminal evaluations with the fertility rate of them through artificial inseminations. The reproductive performance of the four boars from two commercial lines (A and B), was obtained through physical assessments (motility, vigor), morphological and also through additional analyzes to verify the feasibility of the plasma membrane (supravital and hypoosmotic test). During the period of 10 months 322 females were inseminated, including gilts and sows. Among the four boars evaluated, the boar 4 (the second of commercial line B) was in the group that got the best results regarding to spermatic evaluations and due to this was the boar who had the best reproductive performance, achieving 15.8 ± 3.2 piglets per litter. On the other hand, the boar one (the fisrt of commercial line A) was in the group with the worst rates in sperm evaluations showing the worst performance in relation to fertility with 11.7 ± 2.8 piglets per litter. The values found in tests assessing the viability of the sperm plasma membrane immediately after dilution (time 0h) were higher than those found in the doses that passed through cooling (p <0.05) process. The motility decreased from 84.0% to 78.6% after 12 hours of cooling. The physical integrity of the plasma membrane assessed by supravital test dropped from 92.5% to 85.9%, and the biochemical activity of plasma membrane evaluated by hypoosmotic test dropped from 87.2% to 76.9% after 12 hours of storage. The value for the total number of fetuses born (14.9) found in time (0h) differed (p <0.05) than those found after 12, 36 and 60 hours of storage (13.0, 12.5, and 12.6 respectively) and was similar (p> 0.05) to those found after 24, 48 and 72 hours of storage (14.6, 13.6, and 14.2 respectively). All boars present themselves within acceptable limits in relation to abnormal sperm independent of cooling time of insemination doses. The total number of piglets was not different according to the parity order, however the number of piglets born alive was higher in classes of parity order 2 and 3, which were present gilts of 2nd to 5th parity
