Resumo: The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance and nutrient intake of Santa Inês sheep fed different levels of concentrate. Twenty four weaned lambs, with initial BW of 20.99 kg ± 3.62 kg, distributed in four experimental treatments in a completely randomized design with six animas per treatment were used. The experimental period lasted 98 days (October 2012 to January 2013), with the first 14 days for the animals to adapt to new environmental conditions, handling and feeding. The diets were fed ad libitum twice a day, and consisted of Tifton 85 hay and concentrated supplement (0.0, 0.66, 1.33 and 2.0% of body weight (BW)). The animals were subjected to individual weighing every 14 days. Dry matter intake (DMI) was estimated by the technique of using external indicators Isolated lignin purified and enriched (LIPE®) as the consumption of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and crude protein (CP) were obtained from the content of their fractions present in the diets. Results revealed that there was an increase in DMI and CPI and a similar response in NDFI with increasing levels of concentrate. The daily live weight gain per animal showed a linear response when increased levels of concentrate and the highest values observed when 2% of concentrate was included to the diet. A similar response was obtained for the total weight gain per treatment

Foram utilizados 24 cordeiros desmamados, não castrados, com PV inicial de 20,99 kg ± 3,62 kg, distribuídos em quatro tratamentos experimentais, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com seis repetições. O período experimental teve duração de 98 dias (Outubro de 2012 a Janeiro de 2013), sendo os primeiros 14 dias destinados à adaptação dos animais às novas condições de ambiente, manejo e alimentação. As dietas foram fornecidas ad libitum duas vezes ao dia, sendo constituídas de feno de Tifton 85 (Cynodon spp) e suplemento concentrado (0,0; 0,66; 1,33 e 2,0% do peso vivo (PV)). Os animais foram submetidos a pesagens individuais a cada 14 dias. O consumo de matéria seca (CMS) foi estimado por meio da técnica de indicadores externos utilizando a Lignina Isolada Purificada Enriquecida (LIPE®) enquanto o consumo de fibra em detergente neutro (CFDN) e de proteína bruta (CPB), a partir dos teores de suas frações presentes nas dietas. Os resultados revelaram que houve aumento nos CMS e de CPB e semelhança nos CFDN com o aumento nos níveis de concentrado. O ganho de PV diário por animal apresentou uma resposta linear quando se aumentou os níveis de concentrado e os maiores valores verificados quando se incluiu à dieta 2% de concentrado.
