Resumo: The affinity of institutions and territorial contexts as theoretical and empirical possibilities for political geography studies guide the institutional and political-territorial approach adopted in this article and rekindles the pertinence of research on the formation, organization and dynamics of political spaces in their various scales, especially in federative environments. In line with this, the objective of this article is to present and analyze the trajectory of health regionalizations in Bahia, focusing on the historical-geographical predisposition of the government, the mishaps that have been imposed, the advances that have been achieved and the challenges that have been faced. These are recurrent institutional innovations aimed at the health regionalization, which originated in 1925 and continue to the present day with centralizing/decentralizing nuances related to specific territorial contexts.

En esa línea, el objetivo de este artículo es presentar y analizar la trayectoria de la Regionalización de la Salud en Bahia, centrándose en la predisposición histórico-geográfica del gobierno, los retrocesos impuestos, los avances alcanzados y los desafíos que se han enfrentado. Se trata de innovaciones institucionales recurrentes encaminadas a la regionalización de la Salud originadas en 1925 y continúan hasta la actualidad con matices centralizadores/descentralizadores relacionados con contextos territoriales específicos.A relevância das instituições e dos contextos territoriais como possibilidades teóricas e empíricas para os estudos da geografia política norteia a abordagem institucional e político-territorial adotada neste artigo e reacende a pertinência das pesquisas em torno da formação, organização e dinâmica de espaços políticos nas suas diversas escalas, especialmente em ambientes federativos. Em sintonia com isso, objetiva-se, neste artigo, apresentar e analisar a trajetória das regionalizações de saúde na Bahia, focando na predisposição histórico-geográfica do governo, nos percalços que se impuseram, nos avanços que foram alcançados e nos desafios que vêm sendo enfrentados.
