Resumo: In this work, we try to model the dissemination process of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV, in age-structured populations, by using population dynamics tools. Firstly, we present a historical and biological review of the biology of the viruses responsible for Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome, AIDS, and their implications in the human body and their transmission to other individuals. In addition, we also present some basic concepts relevant to the study of networks. Secondly, we propose a computer model for reproducing the epidemiological effects in environments with and without treatments to combat the virus. To develop the model we use both the Penna model for biological aging and the theory of networks for the set of sexual relationships.. The distribution of connections, symbolizing the sexual contacts, is made through the random networks, and performing measurements of some quantities characteristics of networks, such as distributions of groups and the connectivity of individuals. Some preliminary results for complex networks are also presented.

Some preliminary results for complex networks are also presented.Neste trabalho buscamos um melhor entendimento do processo de proliferação do Vírus da Imunodeficiência Humana (em inglês, HIV) atraves do uso de técnicas de dinâmica de populações com estrutura de idades. Inicialmente, apresentamos uma revisão dos aspectos históricos e biológicos do vírus responsável pela Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Humana, SIDA, bem como de suas implicações no organismo humano e diferentes formas de transmissão a outros indivíduos. Também abordamos conceitos básicos pertinentes ao estudo de redes. Posteriormente, desenvolvemos um modelo para a reprodução dos efeitos epidemiológicos em ambientes com e sem tratamentos de combate ao vírus. Para o desenvolvimento do modelo realizamos a união do modelo Penna para envelhecimento biológico com teoria de redes, para o conjunto de pessoas conectadas entre si através de relações sexuais. A distribuição de conexões, simbolizando os contatos sexuais, foi feita através do modelo de redes aleatórias, sendo com isto, possível realizar medidas de algumas características de redes, tais como distribuições de grupos e de conectividades das redes de indivíduos.
