Resumo: | This text investigates the mechanisms that facilitate, promote, authorize, and legitimize the violence to which Brazilian travestis are subjected. There is an empirical case analyzed: the brutal murder of Dandara Katheryn, which took place in 2017, in Fortaleza (Northeast Brazil). The approach privileges the reading of different media manifestations and communicative practices of the phenomenon. The methodology articulates documentary and bibliographic research. Inspired by Walter Benjamin’s thought, the article develops two analytical operations: collection (selection and arrangement of materials) and montage (an exercise of approximation of different materialities for the description of scenes). From the discussion about the ethical-aesthetic dimension of image writing, the text proposes the Way of the Cross as an interpretive strategy for the social constitution of suffering and specially of transphobia. |

El enfoque privilegia la lectura de diferentes manifestaciones mediáticas y prácticas comunicativas del fenómeno. La metodología articula la investigación documental y bibliográfica. A partir de una lectura benjaminiana, se realizan dos operaciones analíticas: colección (selección y ordenación de materiales) y montaje (ejercicio de aproximación de diferentes materialidades para la descripción de escenas). Al hablar de la dimensión ético-estética de la escritura de imágenes, el texto propone la vía crucis como recurso interpretativo de la constitución social del sufrimiento y, en particular, de la transfobia.Este texto investiga os mecanismos que facilitam, promovem, autorizam e legitimam a violência a que estão submetidas as travestis brasileiras. Parte-se de uma situação empírica: o brutal assassinato de Dandara Katheryn, ocorrido em 2017, em Fortaleza, Ceará. A abordagem privilegia a leitura de distintas manifestações midiáticas e práticas comunicativas do fenômeno. A metodologia articula pesquisa documental e bibliográfica. A partir de uma leitura benjaminiana, realizam-se duas operações analíticas: a coleção (seleção e arranjo de materiais) e a montagem (exercício de aproximação de diferentes materialidades para a descrição de cenas).
