Resumo: For João do Rio, "the soul of the street is only fully sensitive to late hours." The article deals with the relationship between language, testimony and abjection in the tale “O bebê de tarlatana rosa”. In the analysis of the short story, the Street and Carnival come as existential dimension and privileged space of manifestation of the fundamental aspects in individual and community’s life.
