Daily life has implications in teaching practice, given the possibilities related to the performance of this professional. That said, this work was guided by the following guiding question: "What are the contributions and limitations of everyday life in the professional action of teachers of Mathematics of Basic Education?". Through the above, we draw the objective of analyzing the contributions and limitations of everyday life in the professional action of mathematics teachers of basic education who experience the phase of experimentation/diversification. Methodologically, we adopted a qualitative approach, data collection occurred through individual interviews with four mathematics teachers, selected based on teaching experience, and we used content analysis for data analysis. The teachers highlighted the daily life as a driving element of student learning, by valuing the mathematical knowledge that students bring with them, as well as teaching learning, through reflection on the situations experienced. Among the limitations of daily life in their professional action, lack of time; need for professional stability; the social context of students; lack of autonomy and participation in the design of public policies were pointed out. We emphasize the emergence of strategies that provide the teacher with a glimpse of daily life as a factor leading to professional improvement and not something routine/ repetitive.
