Resumo: To evaluate the effects of row spacing and harvesting dates on seed yield and quality of Macroptilium lathyroides (L.) Urb. four row spacing (15 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm, and 60 cm) and eight harvesting dates at seven day interval were compared. First harvest was made when first ripe legumes appeared and the last, 49 days after. For the same sowing density, the increasing of row spacing did not affect seed yield but resulted in better seed quality. The harvest date that resulted in the highest seed yield with maximum quality occurred near the fifteenth day after appearance of first ripe legumes. KEY-WORDS: Forage; tropical legume; sowing.

Para avaliar o efeito de espaçamentos entre linhas e épocas de colheita sobre a produção e a qualidade das sementes de Macroptilium lathyroides (L.) Urb., foram comparados quatro espaçamentos entre linhas (15 cm; 30 cm; 45 cm; e 60 cm) e oito épocas de colheita de sementes, espaçadas de sete dias. A primeira colheita foi realizada quando surgiram as primeiras vagens maduras e a última, 49 dias após. Para uma mesma densidade de semeadura, o aumento no espaçamento entre linhas não influenciou o rendimento de sementes de M. lathyroides, mas resultou em melhoria na qualidade das sementes. A época de colheita que resultou em maior rendimento de sementes, concomitante à máxima qualidade, situou-se próximo ao décimo quinto dia após o aparecimento das primeiras vagens maduras.
