Resumo: The article presents the main approaches adopted in dealing with issues about poverty and social inequalities as well as the housing policies in Brazil. From this scenario presented is intended to highlight elements considered important analytical potential that have been little explored, pointing in that direction, some shortcomings in the studies on the issue of housing. To dialogue and discuss the available literature on the treatment of poverty, inequality and their expressions in the housing issue, we see the spatial segregation not result, but as a constitutive element of public actions in this area.
