The current work aimed to analyze the informatization process of the Central Library of UFLA (Universidade Federal de Lavras) to verify the progress in the qualification of the organizational structure and informatization in the period from 1992 to 2008. University libraries for the necessity of attending users, have searched for better updated and efficacious resources in order to make the search available and easy. Inside this expectation, in the concerning bibliography, authors that portrayed the proposed theme were searched for and it was accomplished and analysis of the reports about the Central Library of Ufla for the development of the current work. An analysis was possible in order to verify if the above mentioned library is proper equipped concerning to the information services to attend its users: students and teachers. It was approached the conception of libraries with emphasis for the history of the information systems in libraries, information technologies and the process of changing, the requirement of the university student and the new challenges of the university library. It was also presented an Analysis of the Reports about the Central Library covering the period from 1992 to 2008 concerning to the evolution of the information system and the organizational structure. It was considered, after the checking of the information inside the reports, that there were progress in the acquisition of modern information equipments, in the qualification of the organizational structure which showed an evolution in the information system since the time when catalogue cards were used besides the appropriate preparation of the employees. It was also considered that the Central Library of Universidade Federal de Lavras although does not have the same resources of a private company, neither budget endowment, has advanced inside its information system and it is today in conditions to attend its users with efficiency, punctuality and objectivity. However there is still lack of some new equipments, more courses, participation in meetings, seminaries, discussions and conferences for a better interaction with the professionals of lots of university libraries all over country in order to exchange experiences and acquisition of new learnings, so it will be possible to improve the attendance to the user which is the main goal of this important institution.
