Fisionomicamente essas duas formações são muito semelhantes, sendo sua separação mais efetiva no tocante à composição florística. A Caatinga Arbórea compartilhando mais espécies com a Caatinga e a Mata Seca compartilhando mais espécies com a Mata Atlântica. Neste estudo foi realizada uma amostragem e análises multivariadas da avifauna ocorrente em áreas de Caatinga Arbórea e Mata Seca no Norte de Minas Gerais, com o objetivo de saber se, em relação à composição da avifauna , há diferença entre essas duas formações. Foram encontradas 185 espécies de aves, 179 na Caatinga Arbórea (C.A) e 169 na Mata Seca (M.S); não houve diferença marcante entre as duas formações, que compartilham 88,10% das espécies. Ambas as formações tiveram uma maior conexão com a avifauna da Caatinga do que com a avifauna dos outros domínios fitogeográficos adjacentes, tais como, o Cerrado e a Mata Atlântica. Em todas as análises multivariadas realizadas houve uma mistura de áreas de ambas as formações C.A e M.S, evidenciando que, para as aves parece não haver distinção entre elas, entretanto, em relação ao estado de conservação da vegetação, independente de qual seja, C.A ou M.S, houve uma separação clara entre as comunidades de aves que habitam áreas com vegetação florestal com todos os estratos verticais presentes e áreas de capoeira com vegetação mais simplificada, sem estratificação verticalmente.In the North of Minas Gerais, Southern limit of the Caatinga domain, which is represented by Arboreal Caatinga, a forest type, there is the occurrence of another formation of seasonally dry tropical forest, the dry forest physiognomic these two formations are very similar, being their separation more effective with respect to floristic composition. The Arboreal Caatinga species sharing more with Caatinga, and the Dry Forest sharing more with the Atlantic forest. In this study was performed a multivariate analysis and sampling of avifauna occurring in areas of Arboreal Caatinga and Dry Forest in the North of Minas Gerais in order to ascertain whether, in relation to the composition of the avifauna, there is a difference between these two formations. One hundred eighty-five species of birds were found, 179 in the Arboreal Caatinga (A.C) and 169 in the Dry Forest (D.F), there was no significant difference between the two formations, which share 88.10% of the species. Both formations had a greater connection with the avifauna of the Caatinga than with the avifauna of other domains phytogeographicadjacents, such as the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest. In all multivariate analyzes performed there are a mixture of areas of both formations A.C and D.F, showing that, for the birds seems to be no distinction between them, however, regarding the conservation status of vegetation, regardless of what is, A.
