Resumo: | The covid-19 pandemic in Brazil has accentuated inequalities in the country, as those most affected by the disease were the poor, elderly and black population. Added to the tragedy resulting from the increase in cases and increase in deaths from the virus, another factor was decisive for the increase in victims, which was the neglect and misinformation issued by President Jair Bolsonaro, when minimizing the disease and taking effective measures to fighting the pandemic. In this context of denial and misinformation, those who suffered most were the parts of the population who could not be efficiently assisted by the public health system and who were unable to quarantine at home due to the need to go out to work. Considering these factors, this article reflects on three main points. The first refers to the necropolitics in action of President Jair Bolsonaro, the second to the link of neoliberalism with the production of disposable subjects, and the third to the roots of social darwinism that are implicit in the economic discourse of neoliberalism. |

Neoliberalismo e darwinismo social:: reflexões a partir da pandemia de covid-19 no BrasilThe covid-19 pandemic in Brazil has accentuated inequalities in the country, as those most affected by the disease were the poor, elderly and black population.
