Resumo: The present work intends to realize a study on the films Cornered (1945) and The house on 92nd street 92 (1945). With the entrance of the United States in World War II cinematographic productions have expanded exponentially. Seeking support for civil mobilization, the US government sought in Hollywood a unique source to unite the world of entertainment and propaganda, fostering productions aimed at enhancing patriotism, militarism and the American way of life. In the opposite direction, the films noirs through their subversive narrative, behind the screen of movie theaters, visions critical and alternative as to the consequences of the world conflict for the civil society. Included in this category, we intend to demonstrate how Cornered and The House on 92nd Street intend to demonstrate the events of World War II and also suggest the postwar US and world scene.

Com a entrada dos Estados Unidos na Segunda Guerra Mundial, as produções cinematográficas expandiram-se de maneira exponencial. Procurando apoio para a mobilização civil, o governo estadunidense buscou em Hollywood uma fonte a fim de unir o mundo do entretenimento e o da propaganda, fomentando produções cinematográficas que visavam a valorização do patriotismo, militarismo e o American way of life. Em sentido oposto, os filmes noirs por meio de suas narrativas subversivas, trouxe as telas do cinema visões críticas e alternativas quanto às consequências do conflito mundial para a sociedade.
