Resumo: This theoretical essay aims to reflect on leisure in the light of human rights in Brazil. Therefore, we understand the theoretical essay as a presentation of a reflective and interpretive nature, based on the personal judgment of the researchers themselves, based on the existing scientific literature on the topic addressed. The essay is organized into three interdependent subtopics, namely: Beyond the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; Leisure as culture and human rights; and Leisure as a human right: towards emancipation. Leisure, in its deep relationship with culture, is defended here as a fruitful opportunity that goes beyond an encounter with happiness, but a promising exercise of citizenship and social emancipation, together with human rights. These, in turn, should not emphasize the differences, but equalize our humanities.

Por tanto, entendemos el ensayo teórico como una presentación de carácter reflexivo e interpretativo, basada en el juicio personal de los propios investigadores, con base en la literatura científica existente sobre el tema abordado. El ensayo está organizado en tres subtemas interdependientes, a saber: Más allá de la Declaración Universal de Derechos Humanos; El ocio como cultura y derechos humanos; y el ocio como derecho humano: hacia la emancipación. El ocio, en su profunda relación con la cultura, se defiende aquí como una fructífera oportunidad que va más allá del encuentro con la felicidad, sino un prometedor ejercicio de ciudadanía y emancipación social, junto a los derechos humanos. Estos, a su vez, no deben enfatizar las diferencias, sino igualar nuestras humanidades.Este ensaio teórico tem como objetivo refletir sobre o lazer à luz dos direitos humanos no Brasil. Para tanto, entendemos o ensaio teórico como uma apresentação de natureza reflexiva e interpretativa, de julgamento pessoal dos próprios pesquisadores, embasados em literatura científica existente sobre o tema abordado. O ensaio está organizado em três subtópicos interdependentes, quais sejam: Para além da Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos; Lazer como cultura e os Direitos Humanos; e Lazer como direito humano: rumo à emancipação. O lazer, em sua profunda relação com a cultura, é aqui defendido como uma oportunidade frutífera para além de um encontro com a felicidade, mas um promissor exercício da cidadania e da emancipação social, aliado aos direitos humanos.
