HANDCRAFTING A REFLECTIVE APPROACH TO MANAGEMENT THEORIES

Resumo: This paper analyzes the trajectory of the "Management Theory I" discipline in the curriculum of the Administration course at the Federal University of Minas Gerais from 2004 to 2022, focusing on the contributions of Professor Alexandre de Pádua Carrieri to its formatting. The theoretical framework addresses the history of Management and curriculum, especially the "General Theory of Management." By means of qualitative, historical, and documentary research, we analyzed the discipline's programs available on the institution's website. The main continuities and ruptures of the program are reflected, highlighting personal and institutional influences in its formulation. Under the influence of the Carrieri, the discipline at UFMG was consolidated in a dynamic, reflective, and critical manner, in contrast to a technical and instrumental approach. We demonstrate the relevance of history as a source for organizational theory, curriculum construction, and the training of future administrators.

El marco teórico aborda la historia de la Administración y los planes de estudio, especialmente la "Teoría General de la Administración". A través de una investigación cualitativa, histórica y documental, analizamos los programas de la disciplina disponibles en el sitio de la institución. Se reflejan las principales continuidades y rupturas del programa, destacando las influencias personales e institucionales en su formulación. Bajo la influencia de Carrieri, la disciplina en la UFMG se consolidó de manera dinámica, reflexiva y crítica, en contraste con un enfoque técnico e instrumental. Demostramos la relevancia de la historia como fuente para la teoría organizacional, la construcción curricular y la formación de futuros administradores.Este artigo analisa a trajetória da disciplina "Teoria da Administração I" no currículo do curso de Administração da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais de 2004 a 2022, enfocando as contribuições do Professor Alexandre de Pádua Carrieri para sua formatação. O referencial teórico aborda a história da Administração e dos currículos, especialmente da "Teoria Geral da Administração”. Pela realização de uma pesquisa qualitativa, histórica e documental, analisamos os programas da disciplina disponíveis no site da instituição. As principais continuidades e rupturas do programa são refletidas, evidenciando as influências pessoais e institucionais em sua formulação. Sob a influência de Carrieri, a disciplina na UFMG se consolidou de maneira dinâmica, reflexiva e crítica, em contraste com uma abordagem técnica e instrumental.
