POSTMODERNISM, ORGANIZATION AND DISCOURSE: THE OTHER LENS IN MANAGEMENT

Resumo: This article reflects on the postmodern aspects (in its poststructuralist aspect of organizational studies) which has been shaped as a countercurrent perspective in the general theory of administration. The existence of three approaches in management research and organizational studies is described, highlighting their linguistic, discursive and narrative foundations. Based on postmodernist concepts, this analysis focuses on understanding the contrast between modernist versus postmodernist studies, within the framework of organizational studies. Furthermore, the text addresses aspects of discourse theory, as a substantial element for the postmodernist approach to management. These theoretical reflections are part of the doctoral thesis prepared by the author.

É descrita a existência de três abordagens nas pesquisas gerenciais e nos estudos organizacionais, destacando seus fundamentos linguísticos, discursivos e narrativos. Com base nos conceitos pós-modernistas, essa análise se concentra na compreensão do contraste entre os estudos modernistas e os pós-modernistas, no âmbito dos estudos organizacionais. Além disso, o texto aborda aspectos da teoria do discurso, como um elemento substancial para a abordagem pós-moderna da administração. Essas reflexões teóricas fazem parte da tese de doutorado preparada pelo autor.Este artículo reflexiona sobre los aspectos posmodernos (en su vertiente posestructuralista de los estudios organizacionales) que se han configurado como una perspectiva contracorriente en la teoría general de la administración. Se describe la existencia de tres enfoques en la investigación en gestión y los estudios organizacionales, resaltando sus fundamentos lingüísticos, discursivos y narrativos. Sobre la base de los conceptos posmodernistas, este análisis se enfoca en la comprensión del contraste existente entre los estudios modernistas versus los posmodernistas, en el marco de los estudios organizacionales. Además, el texto aborda aspectos de la teoría del discurso, como un elemento sustancial para el abordaje posmodernista en la gestión.
