Resumo: In response to climate and environmental changes, poverty and social inequalities associated with global development, the United Nations (UN) established the 2030 Agenda, which comprises the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be pursued by public and private organizations and for all mankind. Therefore, the objective was to discuss the social role of public libraries and their contributions to the implementation of information services oriented to the 2030 Agenda, based on the narrative review methodology. It is understood that the contextualization of the SDGs by public libraries can strengthen information actions to achieve these goals, which guide the construction of a sustainable society. Representing an opportunity for research for Library Science/Information Science, above all, in the discussions of Social Librarianship.

Esse plano compreende os 17 Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) a serem buscados pelas organizações públicas e privadas e por toda a humanidade. Diante disso, objetivou-se discutir o papel social das bibliotecas públicas e suas contribuições para a implementação de serviços de informação orientados à Agenda 2030, tendo como base a metodologia de revisão narrativa. Compreende-se que a contextualização dos ODS pelas bibliotecas públicas pode fortalecer as ações de informação para o alcance desses objetivos, os quais são norteadores na construção de uma sociedade sustentável.
