An analysis of students conceptions about monitoring in Physics Degree Course at IFCE

Resumo: This is a qualitative study carried out in Degree in Physics at Federal Institute of Ceará, Campus Sobral, aiming to verify the students conceptions about the efficiency of the monitoring program. Questionnaires were applied with the students who were present or not at the meetings. It was observed that monitored students considered monitoring to be efficient, and their main reasons for searching the monitor were to assist in problem solving and understanding. The fact that they work and/or live away from college are the main reasons they do not go to academic monitoring. It is suggested that virtual campus monitoring be adopted as an option to overcome this difficulty, as well as an investigation about the factors involved in the relationship between monitor and students of this program.

Se aplicaron cuestionarios con los alumnos presentes o no en las reuniones. Se observó que los alumnos monitoreados consideraron el monitoreo eficiente, y sus principales motivos para buscar el monitor fueron para ayuda en la resolución de cuestiones y entendimiento del contenido. El hecho de trabajar y/o morir lejos de la facultad son las principales razones para no asistir al monitoreo. Se sugiere la propuesta de la adopción del monitoreo virtual en ese campus como opción para superar esa dificultad, así como una investigación acerca de los factores involucrados en la relación entre monitor y estudiantes de ese programa.Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo realizado na Licenciatura em Física do Instituto Federal do Ceará, Campus Sobral, objetivando verificar as concepções discentes acerca da eficiência do programa de monitoria. Foram aplicados questionários com os estudantes que estiveram presentes ou não nos encontros. Observou-se que os alunos monitorados consideraram a monitoria eficiente, e seus principais motivos para procurarem o monitor foram para auxílio na resolução de questões e entendimento do conteúdo. O fato de trabalharem e/ou morarem longe da faculdade são as principais razões para não frequentarem a monitoria.
