EMBODIMENT AND MASCULINITIES UNDER CONSTRUCTION: MEN'S EXPERIENCES WITH CORE ENERGETICS

The paper analyzes experiences of embodiments and masculinities of men who practice body psychotherapy called Core Energetics. The field research, with a qualitative approach, was carried out with men belonging to a body psychotherapy group in the city of Brasília/DF, Brazil. The investigation procedures were a socioeconomic questionnaire and individual interview. For the analysis of date was used the technique of narrative analysis. It was found that patterns of masculinities characterized, among others, by aversion to the expression of emotions and feelings, by the constant imposition of proof of heterosexuality and by the appreciation of violence, cause embarrassment to the participants, who, in response to attempts to interdict their subjectivities, they adopt alternative forms of masculinities. It is noticed that psychotherapeutic work favors questioning and reflection about the meanings of masculinities by enabling the opening of dialogical channels between the different existing forms and their impacts on the bodies.
