Resumo: The object that this study aims to analyze is the debate about the return of the political and its size between Roger Chartier and Pierre Rosanvallon, representative called the French Political School, which has in Pierre Rosanvallon and Marcel Gauchet its main exponents. The Political School designation was developed by the Brazilian political scientist Christian Edward Cyril Lynch. We aim to understand the views of individuals and their variations in cultural history and the history of political and thus visualize the movement of French historiography, the same movement that has relegated the political history the way of the shadows and return. It is pertinent to bring to the analysis, the characterizations that both authors of their fields of expertise. Therefore, we as a source works of Chartier, Rosanvallon and Gauchet and also René Rémond, as well as the works of authors who entered the debate and / or constituted as interlocutors of the authors listed above.

A denominação Escola do Político foi elaborada pelo cientista político brasileiro Christian Edward Cyril Lynch. Objetivamos entender as concepções de indivíduos e suas variações na história cultural e na história do político e com isso visualizar o movimento da historiografia francesa, o mesmo movimento que relegou à história política o caminho das sombras e seu retorno. É pertinente trazer, com as análises, as caracterizações que ambos os autores fazem de seus domínios de atuação.
