This scientific article constitutes an analysis of the recent promulgation of Law no. 14,192/2021, highlighting the typification of the crime of political gender violence in Brazil, using available data to understand how this crime is linked to gender inequality in Brazil and gender inequality in politics. The deductive method is used, relying on bibliographic and documentary analyses, in a qualitative and exploratory way of the topic and the data related to it. The article takes a broader look at the history of women's participation in politics at an international and national level, discussing the advances achieved and the difficulties faced and, subsequently, exposing the main Brazilian legislation that seeks to achieve gender parity in the political environment. The article also explores gender as a risk factor for political violence and uses the lens of intersectionality to understand the profile of the main victims of the crime of gender-based political violence. After examining the information relevant to the matter, the research explores the possible results of the new legislation, concluding that other tools and strategies to combat gender-based political violence are permitted, in addition to adaptations to the insufficient wording of Law no. 14,192/2021.
