Resumo: | The present essay aims to board the life and professional path of Lélia Gonzales, whose history pervades her influence in the United Black Movement in Brazil (1978) until she became pioneer in intersectional studies. This research searches to analyze the concepts used by the intellectual to comprehend racism and sexism in Brazilian society, such as the “myth of racial democracy”, “amefricanidade” and the “racism by denial”. Also, the final objective is to problematize the relevance of Lelia’s approaches in the academic sphere. Methodologically, the research was made from Lelia’s original writings and from other intellectuals' essays about her - from analytics about her studies, researches and the use of categories such as activist, intellectual, historical shaping and productions on racism and sexism. |
