This research aims to analyze the relationship between imports and the manufacturing industry in Brazil. The study aims to contribute to debates about how imported inputs affect the structure of industrial production in the country. To this end, the manufacturing industry sectors were classified based on the ISIC Classification (International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities) and using data from the Input-Output Matrix, provided by the OECD, for the years 1995 to 2018. Furthermore, these sectors are grouped according to their level of technology. The main results of this study show that the sectors of the Brazilian manufacturing industry that had the highest share of imports in the sector's Gross Production Value were: Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers; Chemicals and Pharmaceutical Products; Manufacturing n.e.c repair and installation of machinery and equipment; Computer, electronic and optical products; Machinery and Equipment n.e.c and Other transport equipment. When analyzing the sectors according to technological intensity, there is a constant growth in imports of medium-high technology and high technology products throughout the period.
