The platynosomosis is characterized by the ocurrence of adults trematodes parasites belonging to the genre Platynosomum sp. living in felines’ ducts and gallbladder but it also can be founded at other organs like pancreatic ducts and intestines. Your occurrence is more common in places with tropical and sub-tropical weather. It is a fluke with a complex life cycle that depends on the presence of terrestrial snails, small reptiles and terrestrial isopodes so the cycle can be completed. When the trematode gets to his adult form, it can or not to be able to generate clinical signs on infected animals, but when this occurs the most commonly seen signals are: a poor hair coat condition, ictericia, apathy, anorexia, vomit, weight loss, diarrhea, and may even lead to death. The diagnosis is mainly by the eggs found in cats’ feces along with alterations observed on blood and imaging tests as ultrasonography. This study had as main objective investigate the presence of Platynosomum sp. eggs in feces of 30 cats from different areas of the city of Sinop, through the method of "sedimentation in formalin-ether" thus seeking find a cause for the large amount of cats with liver disorders that are attended at Veterinary Hospital of UFMT - Campus Sinop.
