Through the methodology developed, it aims to address one of the main expressions of personality rights: the right to the name and the main possibilities for change. In such a way, subjects related to the rights of the personality and the right to the identity under the light of the civil and constitutional law will be analyzed of objective form. At first, a brief study of the natural person will be outlined, bringing to the fore contemporary and historical aspects of his conceptualization and personality. Afterwards, it seeks to delimit the conceptual bases of the rights of the personality, seeking to relate it to the principle of human dignity, verifying the correlation of personality and dignity. The central question of the research is guided by the right to identity, as a very personal right and legal autonomy over the right to the name. Thus, the name is presented as a major expression of personality, highlighting the possibility of its alteration to situations of exceptionality, as a search for greater humanization, in an attempt to detach it from the patrimonial character attributed to them throughout the centuries. It is also necessary to consider the possibility of disposing of the right to the name for property purposes. All this research aims to demonstrate that the rights of the personality, especially the right to the name, are fundamental to the realization of the dignity of the person in the social context.
