During the SCZ outbreak, prenatal care imposed intense care on pregnant women due to the association of microcephaly cases in newborns. During this period, many individual protection measures were recommended by the Ministry of Health (MS). The measures used by the vast majority of pregnant women consisted only of the barrier against the vector, while the barrier against vertical transmission did not obtain good adherence. Objective: This course conclusion work, presented in article format. aims to present the manuscript Gestação e Zika virus: adherence to preventive measures, published as a chapter in the book Saúde Ciência e Pesquisa Interdisciplinar. published by Atena Editora. Methodology: this is an exploratory, descriptive and cross sectional study with a qualitative approach, which was submitted, by invitation, from Editora Atena, accepted on September 1, 2021. Results: It was possible to observe the difficult reasons for the use of the measure of individual protection studied the condom. In addition to the visualization of the promoters of the use of the measure, in which guidance and health education are included. Final considerations: The findings regarding the difficulties of pregnant women in the introduction of the preventive measures infer that the guidelines and health education still have persistent gaps. Poor adherence to the method may be directly related to social, economic and environmental determinants of health, as these decisively influence the health conditions of people and populations.
