The word doula has Greek origin the meaning serving/ slave woman, currently the doula is a professional specialized in childbirth that promotes to the parturient and her family allemotional and physical support during in the gestation process until the postpartum reducing the working time, the use of analgesics, the cesarean number, promoting Breastfeeding and the bond with newborn. The study objective was to get to know the parturients experiences that had doula follow-up during gestation, Childbirth and / or puerperium in the period from 2014 to 2017. Treat yourself an exploratory and descriptive research, with an approach qualitative, the data analysis was performed through Minayo content analysis. The subject’s research were women older than 18 years the Sinop city residents that gave birth in the years 2014 to 2017, in public or private network, that had doula follow-up during gestation, Childbirth and / or puerperium, being young women between 20 to 30 years old (57,1%), married (71.4%) and with complete higher education (78,6%). The date’s collection occurred in April 2017, after approval by the Ethics Committee, under the advice nº1.985.125 and by signing the term of Free and Clarified Consent, through an interview with semi-structured script. After interviews, analysis emerged three categories: The search for normal birth and the doula professional discovery: The feeling security with the doula presence: The doula support as decisive factor in breastfeeding. The results showed that the search of the interviewed women by information about the normal birth, made them identify the doula professional and consequently sought an experienced doula professional, trained and capacitated that passed security, physical and emotional support during the pregnancypuerperal cycle. The doula follow-up contributed positively to the women mainly in relation to safety in the pregnancy/ puerperal period and breastfeeding.
