Núcleo de Geotecnia, Escola de Minas, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto.O município de Lapão, inteiramente inserido nos terrenos carbonáticos da Formação Salitre, região central do estado da Bahia, é um exemplo de cidade em área cárstica que sofre com problemas geotécnicos relacionados à instabilidade de seus terrenos. Nos últimos anos são muitos os casos de imóveis, arruamentos e espaços públicos que vem apresentando danos estruturais provocados pelas constantes subsidências e acomodações do substrato rochoso. Com intuito de contribuir com a administração municipal fornecendo informações técnicas a respeito das características do meio físico, este trabalho tem como objetivo elaborar zoneamento das unidades de aptidão no entorno da área urbana do município de acordo com suas suscetibilidades frente aos afundamentos cársticos e suas características geotécnicas, as englobando em três classes principais: Alta Aptidão à Urbanização, Média Aptidão à Urbanização e Baixa Aptidão à Urbanização. Para se chegar a este zoneamento foram realizados procedimentos de fotointerpretação, investigações geofísicas - com método de eletrorresistividade, além dos levantamentos de campo e da integração das cartas temáticas disponíveis. O zoneamento das unidades de aptidão permitiu a elaboração da Carta Geotécnica de Aptidão à Urbanização do Município de Lapão, uma importante ferramenta de ordenamento e gestão territorial, que pode ser utilizada pela administração municipal no direcionamento dos seus vetores de crescimento para áreas mais estáveis, minimizando as chances de ocorrência de desastres. Contudo, por se tratar de um ambiente extremamente complexo, sempre serão necessários estudos complementares que incluam sondagens diretas e outras investigações geotécnicas antes de sua ocupação.The municipality of Lapão, all within lands of carbonate Salitre Formation, in the central region of Bahia, is an example of a city in a karst area that suffers from geotechnical problems related to the instability of the land. In recent years there are numerous cases of buildings, streets and public spaces that have been showing structural damage caused by the constant subsidence and accommodation of bedrock. To contribute to the municipal administration providing technical information with respect to the characteristics of the physical environment, this paper carried out the zoning of suitable units surrounding the urban area of the city according to their susceptibility to karsistic sags and its geotechnical characteristics, encompassing three main classes: High suitability for Urbanization, Average suitability for Urbanization and Low suitability for Urbanization. To achieve this zoning, Photo interpretation procedure were performed, geophysical investigations - with an electro resistivity method, in addition to field surveys and the integration of available thematic maps. The zoning of suitable units allowed the establishment of a Geotechnical Suitability Charter for the urbanization of the municipality of Lapão, an important planning and territorial management tool, which can be used by the municipal administration for the direction of its growth vectors for more stable areas, minimizing the chances of disaster occurrence.
