Fatores de sucesso na gestão de projetos e as relações com as competências socioemocionais e o engajamento

Resumo: The main objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between success in project management, social and emotional competencies and the engagement of managers. The analysis of the project management environment is intended to contribute to understanding the relationships with social and emotional competencies in managers that is not yet so much discussed in the literature as well as the engagement. The theoretical framework involved three sections: The first one deals with project managers and their competencies. The second presents the socio and emotional competences: concept, dimensions and main authors who collaborated with the construct. The third part deals with the understanding of work engagement, followed by a discussion of the links between success in project management, social and emotional competencies and engagement. To achieve the objectives, a quantitative, exploratory and descriptive research was conducted , using the survey method. The research was developed with project managers affiliated or not to PMI (Project Management Institute) in Brazil. In total, 151 professionals belonging to 15 communities of practice in project management linked to the PMI, as well as professionals working in the project management field but not affiliated. The questionnaire was made available to managers through LimeSurvey software, through the internet with dissemination from a social networking business called LinkedIn. Data analysis was supported by SPSS and R software, through a descriptive analysis, relationship tests, correlation, factor analysis and ANOVA. The results show that there is a relationship between the social and emotional competences of project managers with an engagement that reflects in the better management of the processes in achieving the success of the project. As well as, engagement is a determinant factor in project management, while to achieve project success, the manager sticks to the initial scope of social and emotional competencies that lead to improvements in the project management process. The result of this work may help in the construction or management of the career of these professionals, as well as in the training of future professionals in the development of socio and emotional competencies applied to the context of projects managements that suggest improvement in performance and engagement in the effective work environment. One of the contributions of the study involves the validation of a scale of success in project management. Future studies may use this scale to analyze their relationship with other constructs such as self-leadership and adaptative competences.

A análise do ambiente de gerenciamento de projetos pretende contribuir para entender as relações com as competências socioemocionais em gestores que ainda não é tão abordada na literatura, como também o engajamento. O referencial teórico envolveu três seções: na primeira, aborda-se os gestores de projetos e suas competências. A segunda apresenta as competências socioemocionais: conceito, dimensões e principais autores que colaboraram na construção do tema. Já a terceira discorre o entendimento sobre o engajamento no trabalho, seguido pela discussão dos vínculos entre sucesso na gestão de projetos, competências socioemocionais e engajamento. Para viabilizar a consecução dos objetivos, foi realizada uma pesquisa do tipo quantitativa, de caráter exploratório e descritivo, utilizando o método survey. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida com gestores de projetos filiados ou não ao PMI (Project Management Institute) no Brasil. No total, participaram 151 profissionais pertencentes a 15 comunidades de prática em gestão de projetos vinculados ao PMI, assim como profissionais atuantes na área de projetos, mas que não possuem filiação. O questionário foi disponibilizado aos gestores através do software LimeSurvey, via internet com disseminação a partir da rede social de negócios chamada LinkedIn. A análise dos dados contou com o apoio do software SPSS e o R, que subsidiaram a realização de uma análise descritiva, testes de relação, correlação, análise fatorial e ANOVA. Os resultados apontam que existe relação entre as competências socioemocionais de gestores de projetos com engajamento que refletem na melhor condução do processo gerencial no alcance do sucesso do projeto. Assim como, o engajamento apresenta-se como fator determinante no gerenciamento de projetos ao passo que para se alcançar o sucesso do projeto, o gestor atenha-se ao alcance inicial de competências socioemocionais que o conduzam a melhorias no processo de gerenciamento do projeto. O resultado deste trabalho poderá auxiliar na construção ou gestão da carreira desses profissionais, bem como na formação de futuros profissionais no tocante ao desenvolvimento de competências socioemocionais aplicadas ao contexto de projetos que sugerem melhoria no desempenho e engajamento no efetivo ambiente laboral. Uma das contribuições do estudo envolve a validação de uma escala de sucesso na gestão de projetos.
