This study takes a look at the city, from four extension projects carried out with children and their responses to what was presented by the students, teachers and employees of extension projects. It is also, in parallel, of actions developed by the adults involved that, after interventions, undergo a process of production of contents derived from experience experienced. The overall objective was to produce a known scholar and popular knowledge, with a view to generate knowledge to be considered in the study of urban space. As for the methodology, it is a study of qualitative nature, exploratory, accomplished through three lines of action: study of four extension projects ("you want free", Run, "children's inclusion Program for art-Kite" and "children's drawing workshop"); description of the activities carried out; and the consequent reflections on them. The results point to the realization that the initiatives developed through the extension projects have contributed to the formation of citizenship of children participants; for the Betterment of the community through the discussions that arose about the city itself and actions resulting from these discussions; and for continuity of academic research on the topic, through the development of other extension projects, the elaboration of monographs and other productions. Also, it is clear, at the end of the study, the need for change of attitude in front of the practical knowledge or formal. This sum of knowledge one must add a rediscovery of knowledge, with a view to an approximation and ressignification of the cultural values, so that each individual has to learn and to teach, be it in architecture, in art or life.
