Era uma vez a lembrança de uma árvore chamada "do esquecimento"

Resumo: As disciplinas de história e antropologia no mundo todo tem como aliadas, entre outras, a arqueologia quando o objetivo é recuperar entre outros aspectos as diferentes materialidades dos povos colonizados. Calcados em trabalhos interdisciplinares tanto a cultura material, como a própria territorialidade, parte da memória atlântica e as profundas transformações identitárias estão sendo resgatados no contexto da chegada e permanência de milhões de africanos e afrodescendentes no período colonial brasileiro. Aquilo que outrora poderia ter sido um rompimento com uma memória de uma certa “África perdida”, recuperar-se-á pelo trabalho da arqueologia histórica e etnoarqueologia. Por meio de uma seleção pontual e não exaustiva e com objetivos de fomentar a discussão do problema, faremos aqui um panorama preliminar sobre alguns dos desafios para resgate arqueológico de materialidade e memória de herança africana no Brasil. Por fim traçamos um paralelo entre a destruição de sítios ao embotamento da memória provocada pela interpretação apressada do cruzamento de iconografias africanas e afro-brasileiras ou de alguns resultados científicos. Abstract:  The disciplines of history and anthropology around the world have as allies, among others, archaeology when the objective is to recover, among other aspects, the different materialities of the colonized peoples. Based on interdisciplinary works, both material culture and territoriality itself, part of the Atlantic memory and the profound identity transformations are being rescued in the context of the arrival and permanence of millions of Africans and Afro-descendants in the Brazilian colonial period. What could once have been a break with a memory of a certain “lost Africa”, will be recovered through the work of historical archaeology and ethnoarchaeology. Through a punctual and non-exhaustive selection, and with the objective of promoting the discussion of the problem, we will present here a preliminary overview of some of the challenges for the archaeological rescue of materiality and memory of African heritage in Brazil. Finally, we draw a parallel between the destruction of archaeological sites, and the blunting of memory caused by the hurry interpretation of the intersection of African and Afro-Brazilian iconography or of some scientific results.
