The demarcation of indigenous lands as linguistic policy

The goal of this paper is to illustrate an exercise of theoretical construction carried out upon the principles of ethnographic research within indisciplinary Applied Linguistics. Particularly, I expatiate, in an auto-ethnographic tale, on how my eight-year-long fieldwork experience within the indigenous universe of the Brazilian southern state of Santa Catarina — specifically within Guarani, Kaingang and Laklãnõ-Xokleng schools and communities, as well as within pre-service and in-service teacher training programs addressed to them by university —, has led me to theoretically explain indigenous languages as social processes. I thus elaborate an answer to the following question: to what extent can the demarcation of lands be theoretically grounded as an indispensable policy to strengthen indigenous languages?
