The perception of the nursing team on nurses’ working performance

Resumo: Nursing performance along the time has developed in our society, carrying out new functions, conquering new settings and mainly leadership. During the academic trajectory, the need of understanding the meaning of the work delivered by nurses on the part of practitioners and nursing assistants has emerged. So, this exploratory and descriptive research aims to identify the perception of the nursing team regarding nurses’ working performance, get to know those professionals’ expectations in relation to nurses’ management tasks. For data collection, a questionnaire was used with five objective questions and six subjective questions addressed to the practitioners and nursing assistants from the units of clinical and surgical admittance, adult ICU and ER of a philanthropic hospital located in the central area of Rio Grande do Sul State/ Brazil. Data collection was held in March of 2005. Results point out the need of nurses’ presence, as well as the importance of their practical and managerial performance, always seeking for the nursing team’s good relationship and welfare.

Durante a trajetória acadêmica surgiu a necessidade de entender o significado do trabalho realizado pelo enfermeiro para os profissionais técnicos e auxiliares de enfermagem. Assim, esta pesquisa descritiva exploratória objetiva, identificar a percepção dos profissionais da equipe de enfermagem sobre o trabalho do enfermeiro, conhecer as expectativas desses profissionais em relação ao serviço administrativo do enfermeiro. Para coleta de dados, foi utilizado um questionário com cinco questões objetivas e seis subjetivas direcionadas aos profissionais técnicos e auxiliares de enfermagem que atuam nas unidades de internação clínica, cirúrgica, CTI adulto e Pronto Socorro de um hospital filantrópico localizado na região central do Rio Grande do Sul. A coleta dos dados ocorreu em março de 2005. Os resultados apontam para a necessidade da presença do enfermeiro, assim como a importância da sua atuação assistencial e administrativa, visando sempre o bom relacionamento e o bem estar dos colaboradores da equipe de enfermagem.La actuación de los enfermeros al largo del tiempo se desarolló en nuestra sociedad, asumiendo nuevas funciones, conquistando nuevos espacios hasta, principalmente, la dirección del trabajo. Durante los estudios académicos, surgió la necesidad de entender el significado del trabajo realizado con el enfermero con relación a los profesionales técnicos y auxiliares de la enfermería. Así, esta investigación exploratoria tiene por finalidad identificar cómo los profesionales del equipo de enfermería ven su trabajo, cómo ellos saben las expectativas de esos profesionales respecto al servicio administrativo del enfermero. Para reunir los datos, se usó una encuesta con cinco asuntos objetivos y seis asuntos subjetivos dirigidos a los profesionales técnicos y auxiliares de enfermería que actúan en las unidades de clínica de internación, cirurgía, Unidad de cuidados intensivos de adultos y Listo Socorro de un hospital filantrópico localizado en el area central de Rio Grande do Sul. Los datos fueron obtenidos en marzo de 2005.
