THE MANAGEMENT OF THE IMPRESSION IN THE PERSONNEL SELECTION: BUILDING CONTEMPORARY LIFE STYLES

Resumo: | The present article results from a research which discusses the relationship among the management of impression and the behavior of the applicants to the position of intermediate management and those of the applicants' selectors, during the selection process. It is an exploratory research performed in two human resources firms, involving thirty candidates applying to intermediate management position and four selection professionals. The data were collected through personal interviews, direct observation and documents. The analysis of the data were done according to the theoretical referential of authors such as Leary, Jones and Pittman, and Ralston e Kirkwood, e Guattari e Rolnik. The results indicate a homogenization of the orientations offered to the applicants, as well as of the their behavior during the selection process. Such homogenization results of subjective processes or ways of production of life styles which, due to the fear of exclusion provoked by the high rate of unemployment, build chameleon-like behavior to adapt to the marked demands. |

El presente artículo resulta de una investigación que trata de las relaciones entre el gerenciamiento de impresión y los comportamientos de candidactos a cargos de gerencia intermediaria y de seleccionadores, en entrevista de selección. Se trata de una investigación exploratoria realizada en dos consultorías de Recursos Humanos, teniendo como sujetos treinta candidactos a cargos de gerencia intermediaria y cuatro seleccionadoras. Los datos fueran colectados a través de entrevistas individuales, observaciones directas y fuentes documentales. El análisis de los datos se dió a la luz del referencial teórico de autores como Leary, Jones y Pittman, y Ralston y Kirkwood, y Guattari y Rolnik. Los resultados de la investigación indican una homogeneización de las orientaciones ofrecidas a los candidactos, bien como del comportamiento de estos mientras la entrevista de selección. Tal homogeneización resulta de modos de subjetivación o modos de producción de estilos de vida que, delante del miedo de la exclusión fomentada por los altos índices de desempleo, construyen sujetos camaleónicos, que se presentan al sabor de las exigencias del mercado.O presente artigo resulta de uma pesquisa que trata das relações entre o gerenciamento de impressão e os comportamentos de candidatos a cargos de gerência intermediária e de selecionadores, em entrevista de seleção. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória realizada em duas consultorias de Recursos Humanos, tendo como sujeitos trinta candidatos a cargos de gerência intermediária e quatro selecionadoras. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevistas individuais, observações diretas e fontes documentais. A análise dos dados se deu à luz do referencial teórico de autores como Leary, Jones & Pittman, e Ralston e Kirkwood, e Guattari e Rolnik. Os resultados da pesquisa indicam uma homogeneização das orientações oferecidas aos candidatos, bem como do comportamento destes durante a entrevista de seleção.
