Ergonomics aspect and musculoskeletal symptoms in a transport sector

Resumo: The aim of the present study was to identify the tasks ranked as the most stressful and to investigate the ocorrence of musculoskeletal symptoms among workers employed by a patient transport sector. The RPE (Rating of Perceived Exertion) scale of Borg was used to determine the rating of perceived physical exertion on the musculoskeletal system. Measures of musculoskeletal disorders was obtained using a modified version of the Nordic Questionnaire. The workers felt that all of the tasks related to patient transfer require intense physical exertion, with scores from 16.8 to 13.8. The workers reported high musculoskeletal complaints in several body regions, with highest prevalence in the low back.

The workers reported high musculoskeletal complaints in several body regions, with highest prevalence in the low back.Este estudio tuvo por objetivo, identificar las actividades ocupacionales que exigen de un mayor esfuerzo para el sistema osteomuscular y verificar los sintomas que se venian presentando en un grupo de trabajadores de un servicio de transporte de pacientes. Para ello se utilizó la escala RPE (Rating of Perceived Exertion) de Borg para determinar el esfuerzo real desempeñado. Para establecer una evaluación sobre las reclamaciones osteomusculares se usó un instrumento derivado del Questionário Nórdico. El estudio reveló en una escala que varia de 16,8 a 13,8 que los trabajadores sienten que todas las actividades relacionadas con su función exigen de grandes esfuerzos. Ellos presentaron una frequéncia elevada de quejas sobre los transtornos osteomusculares en diversas regiones del cuerpo con mayor afectación, especificamente, en la región lombar de la columna vertebral.O presente estudo teve por objetivo identificar as atividades ocupacionais que exigem mais esforço para o sistema osteomuscular e verificar os sintomas musculoesqueléticos em trabalhadores de um Serviço de Transporte de pacientes. Foi utilizada a escala RPE (Rating of Perceived Exertion) de Borg para determinação do esforço percebido. Para avaliar as queixas osteomusculares foi utilizado um instrumento derivado do Questionário Nórdico. Os trabalhadores sentem que todas as atividades relacionadas ao transporte de pacientes exigem grandes esforços, com escores variando de 16,8 a 13,8.
