Resumo: | Perhaps no other professional activity has prompted as much discussion and reflection about ethical behavior as the activity of health care workers. Ethical dilemmas arepresent in health care every time a discussion, procedure, or action affect people. The decision-making situations generated by these dynamics always involve the principle of individual autonomy. The principle of autonomy appears currently as the most complicated issue in discussions involving doctors, jurists, and ethicists. The consequence of this is made evident by the increasing number of legal actions involving physicians and health care institutions. The objective of the present paper is to discuss the concept of autonomy and the importance of defining a juridical approach regardingthis topic. |

No. 1 (1999): Revista HCPAClinical and Biomedical Research; v. 19 n. 1 (1999): Revista HCPA2357-9730reponame:Clinical and Biomedical Researchinstname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/hcpa/article/view/125116/85129http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessS.
