Resumo: | Evapotranspiration (ET) is usually the main output of hydrological cycle hence its quantification is impor-tant for water resources management. This paper presents a methodology for estimating indirectly the daily ET rates from a macrophyte under humid temperate weather. Simultaneously was implemented an experi-ment where the mean daily measured ET rate was 5.2 mm day-1. Because the ET rate is a function of cli-matic, soil and vegetation characteristics, and that usually only the first one are recorded routinely, the daily ET rates were studied based on 12 measured meteorological variables (including solar radiation, tempera-ture, relative humidity, wind speed and atmospheric pressure). Single and multiple linear regression models was implemented to assess the correlation between measured ET rates and weather variables. The regression analysis indicates that solar radiation is the variable that best explains the process of ET (R2 = 0.54). When more variables are considered in addition to radiation, appear variables related to air temperature (minimum temperature, dew point temperature and maximum temperature). Use of multiple variables increased signifi-cantly the coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.72). Using more variables does not improve results. |

Using more variables does not improve results.La evapotranspiración (ET) es, generalmente, la principal variable de salida del ciclo hidrológico; siendo de importancia su cuantificación para el gerenciamiento del recurso hídrico. En este trabajo se presenta una metodología para estimar indirectamente la tasa diaria de ET de una macrófita bajo condiciones de clima templado húmedo. Paralelamente, se implementó un experimento con tanques enterrados donde se obtuvo una tasa de ET media diaria de 5.2 mm día-1. Dado que la tasa de ET es función de características climáticas, de suelo y de la vegetación; y que de éstos usualmente se registran rutinariamente las primeras, se estudia la tasa de ET en función de 12 variables meteorológicas medidas in situ (entre ellas radiación solar, temperaturas, humedad relativa, velocidad del viento y presión atmosférica). Se implementaron modelos de regresión lineal simple y múltiple para evaluar el grado de correlación entre las tasas de ET medidas experimentalmente y las variables meteorológicas. El análisis de las regresiones indica que la radiación solar recibida es la variable individual que mejor explica el proceso de ET (R2 = 0.54), mientras que cuando se considera mayor número de variables, además de la radiación, intervienen variables relacionadas con la temperatura del aire (temperatura mínima, temperatura del punto de rocío y temperatura máxima) incrementando apreciablemente el coeficiente de determinación (R2 = 0.72).
