Resumo: This article intends to analyze the cult practices inside the urban space of Hippo Regius during the Roman period, aiming to understand not only the city as an imperial order strategy, but also as a space in use and permeated of contradictions and subversions inasmuch as its inhabitants frequently repossessed themselves of this space and acted upon it distinctly from the forms it was originally intended. The city was conceived as a place of enunciation (discourse) and visibility (materiality), in other words, as a place of visual narratives.
