Resumo: Este artigo visa apresentar e analisar dois projetos que formam o dossiê “Theatro Lyrico”, pertencente ao Núcleo de Pesquisa e Documentação (NPD) da Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da UFRJ. Os projetos foram guardados pelo Museu D. João VI da Escola Nacional de Bellas Artes e são oriundos de um concurso promovido pelo Ministério do Império Brasileiro em 1857, com objetivo de selecionar o projeto de um Theatro Lyrico a ser construído no Campo da Aclamação, antigo Campo de Santana. Este teatro substituiria o Teatro Lírico Fluminense, um teatro provisório que fora construído em 1852, em virtude de um dos incêndios ocorridos no Imperial Theatro São Pedro de Alcântara. Os projetos no acervo do NPD, ambos anotados em italiano, não foram analisados pela comissão julgadora, e nem devolvidos aos autores ou portadores, pelo que se acredita que não chegaram ao Brasil no prazo estabelecido pelo edital. De alguma forma, isso contribuiu para que fossem, hoje, alguns dos poucos documentos sobre o certame, uma vez que os demais foram devolvidos a seus autores e, o projeto selecionado, jamais construído.

The projects were kept by the Museu D. João VI of the Escola Nacional de Bellas Artes and had been origineted in a competition promoted by the Ministry of the Brazilian Empire in 1857, with the aim of selecting the project for a Lyrico Theater to be built in Campo da Aclamação, former Campo de Santana. This theater would replace the Teatro Lírico Fluminense, a temporary theater that was built in 1852, due to one of the fires that occurred in the Imperial Theatro São Pedro de Alcântara. The projects in the NPD collection, both annotated in Italian, were not analyzed by the judging committee, nor returned to the authors or holders, so it is believed that they did not arrive in Brazil within the period established by the public notice.
