Single queue of beds: urgencies, difficulties and confrontations

The article aims to discuss the need to implement the single bed queue in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The text demonstrates the urgency and the need to regulate all beds, subordinating them to the State, presenting operational difficulties, confrontations with sectorial interests in the face of the public interest, state inequalities in supply and presenting data extracted from the Register National of Health Establishments of Brazil (CNES). It is possible to show that only with the creation of a single queue the country will reach the mark of 2.87 beds per 10,000 inhabitants (higher than the average required by world epicenters, that is, 2.4 ICU beds per 10,000 inhabitants). Finally, it is concluded that all these issues need to be dealt with quickly, and that, due to the urgency, the legal provision and the right to life, the best way for regulation is via compulsory requisition.
