Caracterização radiográfica de sítios peri-implantares em pacientes edêntulos parciais reabilitados com próteses implantossuportadas

The oral rehabilitation with implant prostheses have achieved excellent results, since the success of the implant and the absence of complications, which can be investigated radiographically. Because of that, this study characterized radiographically 25 peri-implant sites in partial edentulous patients rehabilitated with implant-supported prostheses in Clinical Project of Oral Rehabilitation implant-Extension Department of Dentistry, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN. The study was characterized as transversal and observational, with statistical analysis using the MannWhitney test, and inductive approach. Radiographic examination was conducted in the peri-implant sites through periapical radiographs using the paralleling technique with long cone, to find changes in the peri-implant tissues (in the presence of radiolucency bone / implant interface and lost bone dimension vertical and / or horizontal around the implants) and measure the level of bone loss (mesial and distal) adjacent to dental implants. The results revealed bone radiolucency at / implant interface in 2 (8%) sites, loss of vertical and / or horizontal dimension bone in 14 (56%) sites, pathological bone loss mesial 3 (12%) sites and pathological bone loss Distal in 4 (16%) sites. Correlated to the level of bone loss, the only variables that had a significant association were the kind of pathological mesial bone loss (p = 0.002) and type of pathological distal bone loss (p = 0.001). Therefore, it is concluded that measuring the level of bone loss (mesially and distally) adjacent dental implant is an important indication is needed to determine if there is bone loss and if it is physiological or pathological.
