Resumo: Basic sanitation consists of the implementation of measures aimed at preserving the environment and consequently improving the public health conditions of the population. Its main activities are linked to the provision of quality water for the population, collection and treatment of sewage and solid waste, and drainage of rainwater. The present study has as main focus the reduction of the problem of infiltration of the effluents in the soil from the sewage treatment station through infiltration tanks, where, after five years after the start of operation of the condominium, With the infiltration in the soil compromised, not supporting the generated effluent demand. It was necessary, then, the total exhaustion of the infiltration tanks via clean pit tanks, thus constituting a divergence between the ideal design situation and the actual situation constructed. Once this divergence was verified, it was necessary to readapt the infiltration tanks to the ideal project situation, in order to improve the infiltration of the effluent in the soil, besides, even after the service performed, the infiltration tanks continued without supporting the effluent demand of the Condominium, suggesting the hypothesis of undersizing. In order to verify the undersizing, two tests were performed. The first test was the simple recognition survey - SPT, to know the soil type of the site. The second experiment was the one of infiltration, in order to observe the maximum rate of daily application of the soil. With the data obtained in these two tests, a new dimensioning of the infiltration tanks was made to record the infiltration area required for the effluent demand of the condominium. Soon after re-sizing, the required infiltration area was compared with the available infiltration area constructed. However, the case study concluded that the infiltration tanks needed to be infiltrated. That is, the infiltration tanks constructed do not support the amount of effluents that are dumped into them, because the lateral infiltration area is undersized.
