Resumo: | This study anlyzed and compared the chemical composition of rigid internal fixation systems (FIR) belonging to three distinct trademarks (BiomK®, Engimplan® and Osteomed®). Six miniplates and six titanium screws were used, distributed in three experimental groups (Marks) composed of two miniplates (one of the system 1.5 mm and one of 2.0 mm) and two screws (one of the system 1.5 mm and One of 2.0 mm) each. The devices were subjected to EDXRF (dispersive energy X-ray fluorescence) on a Niton ™ XL3t Ultra Analyzer, Thermo Scientific ™ spectrometer and the results were analyzed by SPSS 20. All screws and plates revealed as their fundamental constituents, respectively, the Ti-6Al-4V alloy and the cpTi (commercially pure titanium). Different elements were specifically detected in some devices. The screws of the 2.0 mm system had higher aluminum concentrations than the 1.5 mm system. There was no statistically significant difference between the percentage of chemical elements common to the compositions of the objects analyzed (p> 0.05). The observed results showed that there is no qualitative and quantitative compliance between the chemical compositions of the devices analyzed in this study and that elements detected specifically in some devices may be related to contamination and / or casting techniques. In addition, the higher aluminum concentration in the screws 2.0 mm may be related to the attempt to improve its properties. Association systems between cpTi and the Ti-6Al-4V alloy are considered biocompatible with the tissues, but further studies on the occurrence of the galvanic corrosion are required. |

Association systems between cpTi and the Ti-6Al-4V alloy are considered biocompatible with the tissues, but further studies on the occurrence of the galvanic corrosion are required.
