Tratamento conservador do hemangioma infantil com propranolol: resultados de uma coorte aos 12 meses de seguimento

Objectives: To prospectively evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of propranolol in children with infantile hemangioma (IH), identify any adverse effects related to the use of propranolol and determine the proportion of recurrence of hemangioma after the end of treatment. Methods: Study design was a prospective, the results being presented descriptively. The sample was composed of children diagnosed with IH in any location and any size. Photographic documentation performed, the patients eligible used propranolol 2 mg / kg of body weight per day in three daily doses. No change after seven days of treatment the daily dose was increased to 3 mg / kg / day. The returns are monthly and snapshots, bimonthly. After six months of use, whether the lesion remained stable for at least two photographic records (four months), the drug was discontinued, and follow-up continued until the 12th month, bimonthly snapshots. If there was residual lesion increased propranolol was reintroduced and continued follow-up unchanged. The results were evaluated through photographic records made by three independent observers, and the impressions of those responsible. Results: Ten children, observed reduction of HI in all of them, evaluated the images as the impressions of those responsible. After discontinuation of the IH grew in one case, the medication being reintroduced, with the patient still under monitoring. No side effects were observed with the therapeutic effect. Conclusion: The treatment of IH with propranolol was effective and safe in the sample. After stopping the medication was no growth of the lesion in one case (10%).
