Diagnóstico e propostas de terapias para manifestações patológicas em reservatórios elevados de concreto armado : um estudo de caso na zona urbana de Aracaju

Elevated water reservoirs constructed with reinforced concrete, which play a crucial role in society, are susceptible to deterioration in their surrounding environment, resulting in pathological manifestations. In response to this issue, a case study was conducted with the objective of identifying, analyzing, and proposing solutions for existing pathological manifestations in three cylindrical reinforced concrete reservoirs located in the urban area of Aracaju. To achieve the objectives of this study, site visits were conducted to the reservoirs, and the diagnosis was performed through visual inspections, photographic documentation, and non-destructive testing. Pathological manifestations such as fissures, reinforcement corrosion, concrete displacement, carbonation, presence of chlorides, leaching, and efflorescence were identified. These problems were caused by design, execution and maintenance errors. In addition to causing visual impact and concerns regarding usage, these anomalies can also decrease the structure's service life, compromise its functionality, and pose risks to the safety of nearby individuals and structures. The results showed that these manifestations, albeit at varying degrees, were present in the studied reservoirs. Upon completion of the inspections, it is inferred that the presented reservoirs require recovery and repair procedures. It is necessary to carry out the preparation and general cleaning of the structure, including the removal of weakened concret and the cleaning of steel bars by brushing or, if necessary, their replacement due to the degree of corrosion. Additionally, it is essential to perform fissures closure by injection and apply a new waterproofing system to the tanks. Furthermore, it is concluded that the methodology developed in this study enables obtaining relevant data regarding the internal and external characteristics of the structure.
