The monograph “ Do Objeto ao Documento: o tratamento documental do acervo da Casa de Cultura João Ribeiro ” studied objects in the museum collection of the institution . Six diplomas, four medals, five frames of authorship attributed to “ João Ribeiro ” and an object of personal use that were treated as documents in the museum sense, the material basis of information and support were considered. The processing of information relating to documents using the tool Data Processing Technician, the appropriate amount of information provided by the House was held. The filling in the forms secured the systematization of a secondary documentation, which considers the physical document as any additional information matrix. When considering the knowledge produced about the figure of “ João Ribeiro ” along with the documentary treatment, the research allowed the explanation of perceptual processes that the document is linked, in addition to possible new connections between the material support and information content.
