Estimulação do hemisfério direito na ausência de oralidade: estudo de caso

Objective: The objective of the present study was to analyze the effectiveness of a speech-language intervention program based on the Right Hemisphere Stimulation Model, through music, for a child with no orality. Methodology: The study included a 6-year-old female child with no orality who was on the waiting list for care in the area of children's language. An anamnesis with the mother was applied to collect information that could justify the change presented by the child. Then, the ABFW was applied to evaluate the semantic, phonological and pragmatic aspects. After the evaluation, the intervention program was performed, focusing on the stimulation of the right hemisphere, through music, and finally, a reassessment was made to verify if there was effectiveness in the intervention program. Results: in the pre-intervention evaluation, the participant presented low semantic, as well as morphosyntactic and pragmatic performance. After conducting 17 sessions, once a week of 45 minutes each, of intervention with stimulation of the right hemisphere, through music, the participant was reassessed to verify the effectiveness of the intervention program. It can be observed that through the intervention proposal the participant presented a better reproduction of the linguistic and paralinguistic aspects of oral language, which contributed to the effectiveness of their verbal communication. Conclusion: Thus, the stimulation of the right hemisphere, through music, proved to be effective for the development of understanding and expression of oral language in case of absence of orality.
